Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources The Panel increases its size if the Plasma theme is changed. The best way to see this is to set panel height to a very small value and then consequently change Plasma theme a few times. However, this only happens until the panel reaches certain size, after that it stops growing, so if the panel is wider than default you probably won't see this. Expected behavior is for the panel to save its size regardless of theme change.
this is because the size of the border in the svg changes and the size must accommodate that, but it doesn't take into consideration the old margin size in the process.
btw, you need to include what version of kde you are using. "Devel" isn't enough. kde v, svn rev#, etc.
Using KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3>=20090116)
> KDE 4.2.0, kubuntu jaunty The current behaviour: Change taskbar height smaller than default, change theme > taskbar height will be changed to theme default, you can change this back manually to your own smaller prefered height. The height will not be changed after the user changes the default height too be bigger then the default height. The behaviour is understandable but not wanted. When a user overrides the default height of the taskbar, the height should not be changed when the user selects a different theme.

I'm on r958058 and qt 4.5. Changing themes doesn't change panel size for me. Can you tell exactly around how much size this problem starts to happen?
Hi, i am on recent svn and can confirm this behaviour... Panel grows when theme is switched (by the way, it doesn't get back to its "default" size, it grows every time some pixels) and when compositing is toogled... Seems to be the same bug
I do have the same problem with kde 4.3 beta2, kubuntu packages for amd64. In addition to this I must add that the problem is also appering when switching the effects on and off. It's very annoying because I like to have small panel and because of this behaviour I cannot.
I see the same unexpected height change if I reconfigure the desktop size (ie, using xrandr to add an external monitor), or disable and reenable compositing (Alt+F12, may take a few cycles). To reproduce: 1) Reduce panel from default size 2) Alt + F12 a few times Using KDE 4.2.2 here, from Ubuntu packages.
> 2) Alt + F12 a few times Sorry, should be Shift+Alt+F12 Jeremy

Observed the same behaviour described by Jeremy on 4.3.0 on Kubuntu amd64 packages.
This is a dupe of bug 184905
Closing correctly.
