Version: 2.2 (using 4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)) "release 77.2", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27.7-9-default unfortunately I was not able yet to discover what I do - but konsole hangs frequently for some seconds - and resumes afterwards normal operation - no process or disk activity visible everything works nicely but no input in kosnole is possible and the cursor disappears when moving over the konsole window
Can you get a backtrace from Konsole while it is in a hung state by attaching a debugger to it?
kde4-config --version Qt: 4.4.2 KDE: 4.2.60 (KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090106)) kde4-config: 1.0 To add a little to this, I experience the same problem but only when I launch konsole as a different user than I originally logged in as, and the delay only happens when attempting to use tab completion for the first time. When using gdb in debug mode there is no info generated, konsole simply hangs for 30 secs and then operates as normal. To duplicate, login into KDE as normal, open konsole (or any terminal program for that matter) xhost + -> su - differant-user -> konsole -> hit tab key a couple of times and it freezes. of special note may not be a problem specific to konsole, as I get the exact same behavior with the digikam beta where it will only load with whatever username I log into kde first, it does not generate any debug info it just never finishes loading.
I con confirm this - the use of TAB key the first time .... BTW similar problem for downloads with kget - have a while to proceed
Does it happen when you press backspace at the start of a line as well? If you're seeing problems in KGet then it is probably happening the first time that Konsole tries to call out to KNotify to tell it that something has happened in the session.
Confirmed also in Mepis 8 x64 KDE4.2 Edition (Danums Remaster) To replicate - Open new Konsole session, type something and TAB, Hangs for about 30seconds. Rather frustrating. @Robert - Does it happen when you press backspace at the start of a line as well? - YES, Confirmed Kernel - 2.6.27-1-mepis64-smp root@quaddog:/home/cam# konsole -v Qt: 4.4.3 KDE: 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) Konsole: 2.2.1 cam@quaddog:~$ kde4-config --version Qt: 4.4.3 KDE: 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) kde4-config: 1.0 Any ideas for Resolution / Hack / Workaround /Fix?
