Description Wesley Velroij 2009-01-16 23:31:02 UTC
Version: 4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)) (using 4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-7-generic

Here am I then, putting a text on my collage that i made in picasa, on Osx, because I didn't see any option to put a text on it I decided to do it in my favorite Paint program, Kolourpaint, first I logged out from Osx and booted my kde trunk session aka kde nightly.

So I though it acted slow because it was the kde 4.3 trunk, but that wasn't it, it was probably due the scaled down collage, because else i didn't have a good look on it.

The original image is 5120 x 3200, don´t know why picasa makes it this big, but doesn't seem that uncommon for a collage.

Its scaled down to 25%

When I create a new image with 5200x3200, kolourpaint tells me:

"Resizing the image to 5 200x3 200 may take a substantial amount of memory. This can reduce system responsiveness and cause other application resource problems.
Are you sure you want to resize the image?"

But I can still work smoothly with it.
I'm using KDE 4.3.4 with Qt-4.6.0 on an intel core duo 2.5GHz Laptop

Maybe it depends on the amount of RAM you have.

What's your RAM size and CPU ?
Can you test with Qt-4.6.0 (or at least 4.5.0 as Nokia did quite an amount of optimizing in that version) ?
