This look like bug 136145, however it should be fixed since a long time ago in KDE4.2. Is the IMAP account a GMAIL one , if it does, it may be related to bug 171448
No, it's a Granada's University email account. However, I also have a Gmail account on Kmail, if that can create any trouble.
