Description Alexander Balzer 2009-01-08 09:25:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unspecified

It is difficult to clone kdeapps settings and data to another PC or just make a fresh install.

A tool where you could specify what you want to export would be great.
Basicly it could have 2 Buttons "Import" and "Export", a filename and the following options:

- Kmail
--- lokal stored eMails (from KMail)
--- Account settings (imap, pop3, smtp ...)

- Addresses
--- Groups
--- Kontacts

- Kallender
--- Groups
--- Apointments
--- Tasks
--- Settings (color, views, ...)

- Notes

- Akkregator settings

- Kwalletmanager
--- Settings
--- Passwords

- Konqueror settings

- KControl
--- setting 1
--- setting 2
--- .... (all options)

I hope I used the right translations for all settings.

sorry for choosing the wrong application.
It should go to Export or Import in general (didn't find that)

There is kamion for this but I don't know how widely used and tested it is.
http://kamion2.sourceforge.net/
The current version is for kde4 but there was one for kde3 that might be worth trying.
Anyway, I voted for this bug as I think this should be an integrating part of kde, not a separate app.

Hi,

kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years.

KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish.

If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue.

We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
