Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: Fedora RPMs When you select a range of messages in kmail and drag them to a new folder the message list re-focuses at the bottom of the selected range, then starts removing the messages one by one, this means that after the selected messages are moved to the new folder the you are left viewing a point in the list that is unrelated to your original selection as it has scrolled off the top of the view. If the list was re-focused to the top of the selected range instead, then you would be left viewing the point where the messages were removed from.
I guess it is done that way because is the most sounding way of doing it. When the selected item is the next to the last moved item or the previous to the first moved item (items very easy to get), you are ready to select more messages to move them. In any case, the selected item can not be the top of the selection because you have moved that item to another folder.
What I meant to suggest was not that the selected item necessarily be changed, but that the location the list viewport is scrolled to before the move operation commences be the top of the selected range.

In kmail 1.11.0 (kde 4.2.0), I've moved 500 spam messages to another folder, and it was inmediate (<1sec).
