When opening kickoff and hovering any item, except "menu tabs", the menu is suddenly transparent.
When not using desktop effects it become black.

What graphics card and drivers do you have?

known bugs in the nvidia driver. if you can, update to a newer version of the driver where they have addressed these kinds of issues.
