Description jtscsousa 2009-01-05 18:24:31 UTC
Version:           4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2)) (using 4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2)), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27-9-generic

Input of tilde-accented a results in ~a in kontact notebooks. Other accented characters, such as áàâäéèêíìîóòôúùû work.

This is specific for kontact notebooks. Konqueror and konsole do not show this behaviour.

How do I reproduce this? I can copy and paste your ã into kjots just fine.
Comment 3 Jeff 2013-04-15 09:00:32 UTC
How to reproduce it is pretty simple:
in a standard QWERTZ (German) keyboard in KDE environment has always worked very well typing this sequence of keys:

(Alt Gr + ') c - should generate ç
(Alt Gr + ~) a - should generate ã

This was the standard behavior until sometime in middle 2012. Since then, the first one works even without Alt Gr and the second one never worked again.

$ uname -a
Linux zen 3.8.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Apr 6 07:27:01 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ pacman -Qs kdebase-runtime
local/kdebase-runtime 4.10.2-2

PS.: typing tilde should show nothing until a is typed.
