Version: 2.1.3 (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: Slackware Packages The main reason I started using the KDE3 version of Gwenview was that I found the interface the most intuitive and at the same time powerful of all the KDE image viewers. The KDE 4 version hasd done away with this interface and replaced it with one I find totally alien. While the thumbnail bar replaces one of the functions of the sidebar, every time I try to use Gwenview in KDE 4.1.3, I find the lack of the easily accessible directory listing in the sidebar to be a hindrance. I also personally prefer the thumbnails in the main window and preview in the sidebar. I would greatly appreciate it if you could reintrocuce the sidebar as an option. While I realise there are other programs, like gqview, with similar behavior to this that I could use, I would rather use Gwenview when in KDE.
I forgot to mention why I find the directory tree in the old sidebar so useful. I keep images in 3 main locations, ~/graphics, /ntfs/graphics and /fat32/graphics as I dual boot with WinXP and dabble in computer graphics as a hobby. I also realise this is a cumbersome directory structure. In the KDE3 version of Gwenview, changing from ~/graphics to /ntfs/graphics would just involve navigating the directory tree in the sidebar. In Gwenview 4.1.3, It is at least 2 extra mouse clicks, clicking the "Start Page" icon, and if haven't the directory isn't in the recent directories list, click the "Root" icon and then navigating to it. I find it very distracting having to leave the "Browse" or "View" views/windows to navigate to a different directory. Thinking about it, a recently used directories list in the sidebar in the "View" and "Browse" views/windows as well as the "Home" view would go a long way to ease this.
