Version:            (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

The address book can be used, but navigating away or saving pops up the message:

 The resource /home/derek/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf is locked by 
 application.

Then:
 Unable to get access for saving the address book resource.

which is shortly followed by a crash

There _was_ a .lock file in the lock directory, and once deleted the problem goes away, so the first two messages are reasonable, but it shouldn't result in a crash.

You people can be so annoying.  If you won't bother to SHIP debug symbols, you can't expect users to send you traces with debug symbols.

There was absolutely nothing "INVALID" about this bug - it was consistently reproducible and you got a trace.  The rest is your problem.  No wonder it's so hard to get users to help with testing.

... I'm just doing the bugtracker maintaince cleanup....

In the page I mentioned on comment 2, it says you (Ubuntu user) needs to install some packages (which Ubuntu provides in its repositories by default). because the initial trace was not complete.

I just was expecting you to do so and get a new and completer backtrace. It is OK if you didn't wanted to do it (because that packages are big..., and sometimes users aren't please to do so), but at least I expected an answer after some time (my first comment was on 2009-01-01)

Sorry if I was harsh, I thought you forgot about this report and I just closed it (this is what we do when reports have no feedback after some time)

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
