Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-12-17 17:16:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)

find messages dialog: split widgets into two tabs

Currently the dialog is pretty complex, with elaborate search rules there is not enough space to show nicely all the data -- especially true for netbook users, 600 px height.

Putting all "configuration" stuff -- which folder, search rules, etc into one tab, and to another the results would be nice separation of those data but also would allow to use screen space more efficiently.

I partly agree. While I don't think the dialog is too big (no netbook here), I think having tabs and allowing several search tabs to be open at the same time would be a good thing.

On the other hand it should be clear to the user where the search results are going to appear. Not sure how to do that.

It is an awesome idea!

#1
You have one rules tab, and a lot of results tabs. Search results -- in such case in the last, newly opened tab. But you don't have to "look for" it.
You define rules, you click "search", new tab is created as last one, and user is switcher right to it.

#2
You have current FM in each tab (multiple tabs possible). Each tab consists of two "slide tabs" (left pane, symbols, in Kile for example). One slide tab is rules, another is results.

Now I tend to like #2 more :-)

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
