Description Peter 2008-11-25 11:14:50 UTC
Version: 1.3 (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Can not copy/paste text within Kontact and to other applications using Ctrl-C/Crtl-V.
Only with right-click menu.
Comment 1 Dario Andres 2009-01-23 12:08:18 UTC
Can you still reproduce this bug with a recent KDE (4.1.4 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2rc1 / 4.2svn / 4.3svn) ?
From/to what Kontact component can't you copy/paste ?
Thanks :)

Comment 2 Peter 2009-01-24 13:34:49 UTC
I am using KDE 4.1.3 from current updates.
The 'bug' concerns Kontact-Mail: copy/paste using CtrlC/CtrlV of text from/within Kontact-Mail does not work, even with hotkeys defined.
Comment 3 Dario Andres 2009-01-24 13:35:38 UTC
And using only KMail (without Kontact), can you reproduce the bug too ?
Comment 4 Peter 2009-01-24 13:41:41 UTC
Yes
Comment 5 Dario Andres 2009-01-24 13:42:53 UTC
So, it seems it's a KMail bug. (Anyways the code for KMail changed a lot in KDE4.2 it may be already fixed)
Comment 6 Nico Schlömer 2009-02-24 21:53:16 UTC
this might be the same issue as in

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172547

any, i have the same thing too. kontact tells me in an info window that

======================= *snip* =======================
The key sequence 'Ctrl+C' is ambiguous. Use 'Configure Shortcuts'
from the 'Settings' menu to solve the ambiguity.
No action will be triggered.
======================= *snap* =======================

-- indeed: in [settings->configure shortcuts], you'll find the action copy listed *twice*, and twice assigned to ctrl+c. i guess this might be the problem..

cheers,
nico

AFAIK this was a kdelibs bug and fixed in trunk.
Comment 9 Tomas Van Verrewegen 2009-03-19 09:12:37 UTC
I installed 4.2 last weekend and can confirm: Copy/Paste works like a charm now, everywhere in KMail/Kontact.
Comment 10 Peter 2009-03-19 18:20:00 UTC
Good for you!
It still doesn't work for me however.
I have come to the conclusion that the current bugs I am experiencing are not going to be solved.
So I will reinstall from DVD coming april

I still have the problem here in the most up to date suse rpms for KDE 4.2.2 / kmail 1.11.2. Same issue with duplicated key bindings.
Comment 12 eva 2009-04-18 14:56:11 UTC
important point probably: the issue only appears in the seperate email window (which opens when double clicking on an email). In the embedded email view it works as expected.
