please provide incremental auto-preview feature

Yes, I am aware of the preview feature.

But this is about auto-preview. The problem with tex (not with kile) is that after some time, looking on all the messy tex I am lost what did I wrote. Some tex, formula, tex, symbols...

So, if user has powerful enough computer (or she/he is brave enough) it would be useful to have incremental auto-preview.

| denotes the cursor

I have
|hello $\rightarrow$
world

I immediately see in the preview
hello →

I move cursor down I get
world

NOTE: it is not about accuracy, it is about rough estimation what the equation, line, symbols look like -- just to get the sense of the text, not the perfect preview of the layout.

For tables I would even suggest forgetting this and show only the row, a line.

So in other words this incremental preview would "remove" tex tags from text which are in global context, and for the rest it would produce the output. Once again: aim is the meaning, not the accurate layout.

A similar feature is already planned. We still need to figure out the exact scope of the preview, i.e. only the current line (unless it is a math environment) or the whole paragraph.

Michel, you are better than Santa Claus :-) Great news! Thank you.

Ideally I would opt for paragraph (easier to get the meaning of what is written) but the key factor here is rather speed (for me).

Btw. technical thing for the future -- for users with plenty of ram/hdd it would be nice addition to being able to store all parts of incremental preview. So having A and B lines, A is rendered, user goes to B, B is rendered, but when user goes back to A, A preview is fetched from the cache.

Hi,
I just stumbled over gummi (http://code.google.com/p/gummi/) and found the live preview alongside the editor very helpful.

I think it would increase productivity for a lot of people if they could always immediately see a preview of what they just typed.

Also having the editor and the preview next to each other works very well for modern widescreen monitors.

I don't know how hard it is to embed a pdf preview widget (maybe poppler), but I would really like to see that feature in kile.

What do you think?
