After doing a clean install of the 2009 release of Mandriva One (64 bit edition) on my new Compaq Presario A940CA laptop has a defect where when simply clicking on the start menu causes the entire GUI to crash, and a status window appears stating the Plasma workspace has crashed. I have tried updating with all of the current updates from Mandriva and still the problem remains! The crash alert provided a set of details that required gdb to be installed. So after installing this and generating the crash again, this is what it produced:

After the IDE crashes it seems to reboot and the IDE seems to be stable from then on. Almost as if the problem is in the initialization and after the reboot the problem gets cleared.
