Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages 1. Select a contact's properties 2. Click on "Custom Notifications" 3. Select an event 4. Click on "Play a sound" 5. Choose a wav sound file that lasts for a second or two 6. Press the little icon immediately to the left of the place where one has selected the file Presumably, what is supposed to happen at this point is that the sound file should play in its entirety. What actually happens is that the file starts to play, but lasts only a fraction of a second before being truncated.
I could not reproduce this with KDE 4.2.1 with an ogg file or a wav file. If you have problems with this in KDE 4.2.x, please reopen.
How do I reopen this? I don't see anything anywhere that says "REOPEN" :-(
I'm still waiting to be told how to reopen this. This isn't the first time someone has told me reopen a bug, but no one has ever explained how to do so There's no HELP, there's no nothing. Maybe bugs.kde.org could be improved by making it much more obvious how a user is supposed to reopen a bug? The word "reopen" simply doesn't appear on the page.
reopening. i take it you're still having the problem?
(In reply to comment #4) > reopening. i take it you're still having the problem? Yep. The latest official Kubuntu load is 4.2.0, so that's what I'm running, and the problem still exists there. So it's not just a 4.1.x issue.
Can reproduce with Kopete 0.70.2 on KDE 4.2.3 (Archlinux x86_64 KDEmod packages). For me: -the sound is also truncated when triggered by a notification (not just with the preview) -the sound length varies slightly every time -ogg files work fine
sounds like bug #190662
Bug still exists in KDE 4.3.2, kopete 0.80.2 (kubuntu karmic, 64-bit)
I agree that it sounds like bug # 190662. That one was filed quite a long time after this one, though, so perhaps it should be marked as a dupe of this one? (Isn't that the rule? that later reports of the same bug are the ones marked as dupes?) It is odd that this bug is still marked unconfirmed. FWIW, it probably should come as no surprise that this bug is still present in kopete 1.0.0 with KDE 4.4.2. (kubuntu lucid, 64-bit).
