Does it crash after you login?
I make a new connection with an ical calendar - that works. I added a new date in kde kontakt and after that it chrashed.

I have experienced the same bug in KDE 4.2 rc 1 (Kubuntu 8.10). The crash occured as I tried to add a new entry. Here is the backtrace. (FYI: I've had some problems with kderesource migration from 4.1.4 to 4.2 rc, may have something to do with this bug. I also used to have 3.5 in parallel on this machine.) I forgot to mention that upon restart, the entry that had caused the crash shows up in Calendar, so it gets recorded regardless of the crash.
#3 and #4 are duplicates of bug 180655 and unrelated to the original issue

PS Apols. for duplicating the above entry - still learning Bugzilla. Rod.
Hmm, interesting, the Slox Calendar resource accesses the address book. Probably a similar issue as with using the birthday resource, i.e. creating a "loop" through Akonadi. Anyway, the original issue seems to come from a simple "file" plugin being used, right? Gerhard, in case you don't have any groupware resources that need IMAP in some way (e.g. Kolab), could you try running Korganizer stand-alone and see if it triggers the problem as well?
Same problem here. I've start Korganizer as stand-alone application which the same result. Crashes occour also after restarting akonadi and adding a new entry after click on accept (Übernehmen in german).
When I start KDE 4.2 than: Anwendung: Akonadi Resource (akonadi_ical_resource), Signal SIGABRT Thread 1 (Thread 0xb5c1c8d0 (LWP 5896)): [KCrash Handler] #6 0xb80b8430 in __kernel_vsyscall () #7 0xb6644880 in raise () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #8 0xb6646248 in abort () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #9 0xb7239795 in qt_message_output () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #10 0xb7239872 in qFatal () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #11 0xb7239915 in qt_assert () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #12 0x08053ec6 in _start ()
Just another "me too" on ArchLinux running latest KDE 4.3 trunk. I don't use SLOX, but I am using Kolab...
use the ical resource instead
