Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs I had configured xorg.conf to start with 1680x1050, which is the prefered screen resolution for my LG W2242T Monitor. The Login Screen starts also with this resolution, but when I logon to KDE4, the resolution changes to 1680x1200. I can change it in systemsettings > Display to 1680x1050 but when I restart the computer or log off an log on again in KDE4, it starts again with 1680x1200. I tried to rename the ~/.kde directory in my home directory and starts with a fresh configuration, but no change. I expected that KDE4 starts with the configured screen resolution. Greetings Steffen
for a clearer view: KDE4 didnt change the X-Server resolution. The X-Server runs with 1680x1050 as configured, but KDE4 starts with 1680x1200, so I can "scroll" the desktop with mouse movings up and down. Of course I renamed the ~/.kde4 directory to start with a fresh configuration. Steffen
Have this problem to on my Acer Aspire 5315, i can confirm this problem, but i dont manual edit my xorg, I have installed Kubuntu 8.10 it detects my screen resolution good when in use the notebook screen, but when i use my 19ich TFT screen it doesnt adjust the screen resolution, so i need to go to systemsettings and then it will be detected, It could be a xorg problem, but also from KDE, but i am no expert. *VGA Intel gma x3100
PS i believe the login screen by my doesnt start with the good resolution, so this could be easy be a xorg problem.
Hello, I set this bug to resolved, because I found another way. I changed my xorg.conf, so that the only possible screen resolution is 1680x1050. My first way to solved it was a little script in kde/autostart with a xrandr command. cat ~/.kde4/Autostart/display.sh #!/bin/sh # Script zum Schalten des Displays xrandr --output default --mode 1680x1050 --verbose Greetings Steffen
