Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs personal preference but I just prefer the way Konqueror lays out filtering including the by type filtering. thanks,
+1 for this idea It would be good if you are able to move the filter bar wherever you want it to be...
Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719
This is a very old report. Could you please provide more details, if this is still an issue?
In Konq, there is a pull down called "view filter" for filtering the directory by file type something like "show only files of type" and the pull down displays those file types in the folder that can then be filtered for I always thought it was a nice feature so I posted the request

Created attachment 74910 [details] view filter in Konqi you need to enable it in settings -> configure toolbars -> toolbar -> extra toolbar <dir filter>
+1 for the filter bar. It seems more useful than the current toolbar activated on F12(i dont really like that it searches recursivelly) As a side note, i still canot find that filter in Konqueror 4.8.5
Created attachment 74994 [details] the filter bar in the menu screenshot from kubuntu 6.06/KDE 3.5.2
