the same issue in 4.2 branch (4.1.73 snapshot)

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #84065 +++

Version:           1.6.82 (using KDE 3.2.90 (3.3 alpha1, CVS >= 20040522), compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.6

In a Quicksearch bar, when the status filter is unread, it do not shows the new  messages, in spite of that the new messages is unreaded.

I think that with a "unread" status filter, should be show the new and unread messages.
