Description Ruchir Brahmbhatt 2008-11-13 10:16:59 UTC
Version: 1.4.1-12.1 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I'm using Performance profile in power management. I have configured it to suspend to disk on laptop lid close but when I close the lid, instead of suspend, it just locks the screen. This used to work before some days. Probably with older versions of some packages.

Currently I have powerdevil-1.4.1-12.3 installed but problem still persists.

Same is happening for me .. solid-powermangement shows suspend as supported but a even a direct call doesn't seem to work.

pm-suspend still works. Upgraded both kde4 to an svn build of 16th nov and kernel to 2.6.27.6 and pm-utils 1.2.2.1.

If you can tell me how to debug the problem or run more test .. would be happy to help.

This problem could be related to some HAL updates. I have heard from another user that a recent Kernel/HAL upgrade screwed up his hal configuration, erasing privileges for normal users for suspension. Please check if this is the case

I also suspect the same. However I'm using as a root user.

sorry I forgot to update it here .. the latest build of hal wasn't using the group policy setting. It was double problematic to debug because there was no error message from solid which would either stuck or give totally wrong output.

But the brightness issue.. it never worked for me if I change the brightness through my laptop's speical keys .. the level at the plasmoid never changed .. not sure how to debug this.

I reported the hal issue in #solid but forgot that I also commented on an issue here.

Looks like it was related to hal, hence closing

Same problem here: Configured performance (when cord plugged) to do suspend to ram on lid close. Didn't work; it didn't suspend when I closed the lid. Then I unchecked the option to wait 10 seconds before suspend, and that seemed to "solve" the problem.

I'm running kdelibs-4.1.80-5.fc11.i386.

If this looks like it is related to hal - could someone please explain how to debug this, and how to decide where the bug comes from? I'll be happy to test.

No, it is not related to HAL, more to new Plasma Notification Theme that still does not recognize options for making notifications persistant, vanifying waiting time. Could please someone open a bug against this?
