Description Stephan Sokolow 2008-11-07 06:03:36 UTC
Version: 3.5.9 (using 3.5.9, Gentoo)
Compiler: Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r7-20080501

Shift selection in Konqueror fails to select only visible files, selecting based on a slice of the underlying tree data model. Examples of this include:

Copying/deleting/moving fails after expanding and collapsing a folder in TreeView mode because Konqueror includes the folder's collapsed content in the list of files to be manipulated and then errors out when the parent folder isn't there to be descended into.

Copying/deleting/moving has dangerously unpredictable effects when using the DirFilter extension because files hidden by the filter still get selected by Shift-Select. Ctrl-Select is a workaround, but it's painfully slow.

I have the same problem that I reported to the kubuntu/launchpad website. I was told to report the bug upstream. Below is my initial report.

Using Konqueror as file manager. Using expandable folders. I click the + on one file to select it. I click another file in the range while holding down shift. I expect that all files in the range will be selected. Instead 1-3 files at the top, including the original selection, are unselected. Sometimes, a few folders adjacent to the original selection are selected as extra. This behavior occurs about 80% of the time.

Cannot reproduce. Feel free to reopen this ticket if the problem is still present for you in the latest release of KDE, v4.7.4 or higher.

This is a very, very old bug. May have been KDE 4.0...

OK to close.
