It would be nice to be able to search for text within the lyrics applet. I suggest this is done like Firefox, in which the user types when the lyrics applet is in focus or a hotkey (Ctrl+f) is pressed. A little bar appears at the bottom of the applet that contains the typed text (with a button to get rid of the bar) while the typed text is searched for. To make the feature more obvious, a button could be added at the top of the lyrics applet to make the search bar visible.
