Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs In KDE 3.5.9 I could do this with a dcop command: dcop kicker kicker toggleShowDesktop. I wish for KDE 4.2 a dbus method for plasma to toggle showdesktop. I use the quicklaucher plasmoid. The ShowDesktop widget that now sits next to the quicklauncher takes too much place (I like small icons like those of quicklaunch in Windows XP and Vista). Dragging the ShowDesktop widget to the quicklauncher doesn't work as the quicklauncher widget can't work with "services", it expects a .desktop file with an exec command. With a working dbus-send command I can drag my ShowDesktop.desktop to quicklauncher. qdbusviewer shows that there are no dbus methods for toggling showdesktop. This wish is similar to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163272 : plasma full dbus interface. I've also noticed that http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.2_Feature_Plan shows "TODO Plasma dbus interface". I hope you can grant me my wish. Regards

Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
