Description Jens Stimpfle 2008-10-26 16:32:34 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi, I am using the new Kubuntu 8.10 RC release, so I hope I have clicked the right version number of KDE.
In System Settings-> Hotkeys(Kwin), theres an entry called Maximize Window.
It should be called "Toggle Maximize Window" or something of the kind. I have searched minutes for an entry like "De-Maximize Window" - as these functions are usually put on different Hotkeys (ALT+F10, ALT+F5) for ex. under Gnome or IceWM w\out DE - before I remarked that it is the same combination.

What‘s the point? Press Alt+F8 (in my case) to maximize the window, press Alt+F8 again to restore it?

most shortcuts performing operations on windows are in fact toggle shortcuts. None of them has the name "toggle" in it. Changing that for one shortcut would create inconsistency. In general our userbase seems not to have any problem with that (given that there are no reports for the other shortcuts), so I would say everything is just fine as it is :-)

Thank you nevertheless for the request and sorry for the late reply.

OP raises valid point. Naming this shortcut simply "Maximize" _is_ misleading. This should have been named "Maximize/Restore" or something. This would make it clear what the task of this shortcut is and it would make it easier to find it in case someone is looking for "restore" like I did.
