HTH,
Comment 1 Marco Martin 2008-11-21 21:26:12 UTC
the backtrace isn't really complete try to reproduce after installing all the debug symbols with the instructions of
http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2008-12-19 13:08:22 UTC
Looks like a crash related to system tray plasmoid. That plasmoid was reworked a lot for KDE4.2. Have anyone experienced this bug with a devel version of KDE ? (4.2(beta1/beta2/svn)) ?
Comment 3 Eric Homeier 2008-12-27 04:46:10 UTC
I get this whenever I boot up. I have tried to load plasma but I just get this error. I am able to run programs still thru alt+f2. However my desktop is completely blank. The only thing I may have done was run an update thru Adept earlier that day. When I booted up later and this is what I got.

Application: Plasma Workspace (plasma), signal SIGSEGV

Eric: your bug is not the same this one. in future, unless the backtraces are *identical* (which in this case they obviously are not), please open a NEW report with your backtrace in it.

also consider installing the debug packages so you can produce full backtraces as well:

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

in any case, your bug is fixed in svn.

James, your crash is something else. Please confirm than when you sign in Twitter with the small Settings icon on the applet handle instead of the Configure button and you see no crash.
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem, I see this error message on every login. I have KDE 4.2.0 (released 27.1.2009) and ArchLinux.

@Jakub: your crash seems to be a different one.
BTW: you need debug symbols to get useful information in the backtrace. Please recompile kdelibs and kdebase-workspace PKGBUILD using the "!strip" option and change the"-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE" option (cmake) from "Release" to "debugfull" in the build function

Any news on the original report? It should be fixed now on KDE4.2/4.3+

As far as I am concerned, this report can be closed. After I upgraded to KDE 4.2.1 the issue has not recurred. Using Mandriva 2009,0 with the unofficial media sources on the KDE.org ftp mirror at ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/4.2.1/Mandriva/2009.0/RPMS/x86_64 and all is well. Excellent piece of work. THank You all!
