Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs After unchecking the "group email list" checkbox only the "root" mails of the groups are shown. All "child" mails are invisible. The number in brackets behind the folders is right. After changing back to "grouped list" all emails are there again.
Where exactly is this option that you are talking about? Do you mean "folder->thread messages" ?
I'm using german translations. So I'm not 100% shure. It should be something like this in english: Kmail -> Options -> appearance -> tab: mail list -> group mail list The effect is that e-mails with the same subjects are shown in a tree view with + symbols. If it is still not clear what I'm talking about, I could send a screenshot.
OK, now I can confirm this. It doesn't happen always, but it can be reproduced. Some notes: 1) The menu option Folder->thread messages works fine, *always* 2) If this menu option is enabled while setting the thread messages option from "kmail settnigs->appearence->message list->thread messages", it works in reverse (it unthreads the message list) 3) sometimes it can be reproduced in the opposite way too. when you enable the tread messages option from the settings, a new thread is created for every message (i.e. they are not threaded at all, although they normally are threaded with the folder->thread messages option)
Hi, an easier and reproducible way (at least for me) to reproduce this is to just thread messages in a folder and then use Folder->Remove duplicate messages on that folder. Until I uncheck and recheck the "Folder->Thread Messages", I cannot see any but the root mails of the threaded messages.
Seems that this bug is obsolete since new mails list in Kmail 4.2
