Description Ben Jencks 2008-10-24 03:16:26 UTC
Version: 2.0 beta (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Amarok 2 beta2 is doing very poorly at detecting my "various artists" albums. I have directory full of mp3s with the same album tag and different artist tags, and it created an album for each artist, rather than a single various artists album, as expected. Additionally, the interface for fixing this manually is very poor -- I have to go through and right click each album -> show under various artists. This option does not appear when I select multiple albums, and since I have about 5 albums with 60 or so songs each, all from different artists, this is far too much work to do individually by hand.

Amarok 1.4 correctly detected these albums as various artists.

Yup, we're very aware of how broken Compilation handling is in Amarok 2 betas. We hope to resolve this before final release.

I wanted to add also that some albums in my collection are incorrectly listed under Various Artists. Right-clicking the album and selecting "Do not show under Various Artists" doesn't fix the problem however.
