Version: 0.60.2 (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs Well I am using KDE 4.1.2 shipped with Mandriva 2009.0 :) Today I plugged in my old webcam to see if it actually woirks as stated in the Linux Kernel 2.6.27 changelog..To my surprise Mandriva detected it and I hoped it would wokr.. But after I opened Kopete it opened and logged into my account .. I though of seeting up the Webcam through the Settings option.. As soon as I click it the program fails to respond and I have to terminate the process.. Here is the output when opened through Konsole http://rafb.net/p/VgwnUQ36.html Hope it get fixed !
Cm'on guys please do let me know abut this problem ! Is it gonna be fixed or what ?
I can't reproduce it here, what webcam is it ? V4L or V4L2 ? Which driver ? Does it happen every time ? Can you try your webcam with another program like Ekiga to see if it is a kopete or a webcam-related ? That will be all :-)
Well my Webcam worked fine with Ekiga :) Its V4l2 according to Ekiga ! Yes it happens everytime .. Its definitely a Kopete related issue.. I hope it will be get fixed :)
Everytime I open Kopete it crashes while Ekiga worked like charm :) Hoping for this to get fixed :) Regards
what type of camera and what driver is being used?
I have had the same problem with two different systems running Mandriva 2009. One is an Acer laptop Inspire 5520 with a built in cam and the other uses an Asus VK222 with a built in cam. Both work fine with Mandriva 2008.1 using kopete 0.12.9. I've tried the release for KDE4 and KDE3.5 and neither will recognize the cameras when every other camera software works fine. The Asus is identified as Asus USB 2.0 Webcam by vendor: Chicony Electronics Co. Inc. and the on the Acer laptop as: crystal eye webcam. The point being that both worked with Kopete 3.5.9 and neither work now with the later versions.

The backtrace got deleted, can you post it again in here (try to post directly here, to avoid using temporal pastebin / file-hosting, and to help to search duplicate bugs) . Thanks :)
Ok the bug is still there in KDE 4.1.3 version. Here is the backtrace.. using Mandriva 2009.0 KDE 4.1.3 , kopete version 0.60.3 [root@localhost ~]# kopete kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/klauncher kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/bin/kded4 kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/bin/kbuildsycoca4 kbuildsycoca4 running... kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kconf_update [root@localhost ~]# VIDIOC_ENUMSTD: Invalid argument VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT: Invalid argument VIDIOC_STREAMOFF error 22, Invalid argument
I believe I had this quite a while ago and flash also wasn't working with webcams then. Using the uvcvideo driver. It's working here now, so could somebody who had repro on this run urpmi --auto-update and then confirm whether the bug is still present? If it is please provide a backtrace. The dialogue which pops up with an error should have a show details checkbox. Check that and then wait a while. Once the text stops filling copy and paste that text here. If this isn't available I can provide help running a backtrace through gdb on the console. Cheers, Alan.
