Version: 1.9.10 (using 3.5.10, Kubuntu (hardy) 4:3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-21-generic I have two search folders -- one searches on "Message status is: Important" and the other one searches on "Message status IS To Do AND Message Status IS NOT Replied." They both search on my dIMAP mailbox, recursively. There are a total of 6 folders and 800 messages in there. Both search folders become empty regularly. I would start KMail and they would contain no messages. I would then select a folder and hit "s" to re-do the search, but the search criteria are also lost. Of course in my case they are trivial to recreate but it has also happened to large regex searches and only Klipper history spared me from pulling out my hair. Saved searches should be saved and preserved until deleted. I believe losing their parameters and/or content is a bug.

Yes, I get this sometimes too, even now. There are a few things in here, but I'd suggest that one thing that could make the search folders "feel" more permanent, would be the following: - When you right-click on an existing search folder, rather than having "find messages", it should say "modify search" or something. - Then, when you click on this to get to to the search window, it should remember the existing search. At present, it resets to empty search criteria. Thanks.
This bug continues in 1.11.3 (KDE 4.2.3) as reported in #192717 and in KMail Version 1.13.2 (KDE 4.4.2). Search settings are stored in .kde/share/apps/kmail/search/<foldername> but not recalled as done in KMail: 1.9.6 (enterprise 0.20070907.709405) (kde 3.5.8). So this bug is a regression.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
