I guess this is sort of a cross between a wishlist and a bug report. I chose bug report because it is i rather serious issue in terms of usability, and probably wouldn't be a huge problem to fix (not that I would know). On my Presario C770us, horizontal scrolling from the trackpad doesn't work by default (though vertical scrolling has no problems), and cannot be enabled in System Settings. I had no problem enabling it in GNOME, so I'm pretty sure there's no reason it can't be done.

We have a new specialist touchpad kcm landing in 5.3. This has this option.
