Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs I would expect showing the dashboard to be snappy. Showing the desktop on the other hand, happens instantly. The dashboard should do the same. I tried this with and without compositing. Showing and hiding the dashboard seems to keep one of my two CPU cores at 100%. Showing and hiding the desktop does not take up processor.
I'm having the same issue here... its faster go move to an empty desktop than using the dashboard... Using trunk btw,
I can confirm it: switching to the dashboard is a bit slow to me too. I'm using nvidia drivers (and I've compiled trunk with debug symbols).
Anyway, it seems that the problem is on a lower level than KDE. This is a dup of #155678. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 155678 ***
