Description Richard Hartmann 2008-10-08 15:37:38 UTC
Version: 1.10.1 (using 4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2), Debian packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.26-1-686

Reprocude:

* Select Email
* Press X
* Click 'View', see that the setting _has_ changed
* Look at Email, see that the actual font did not change

Then

* Set KMail to use custom font
* Select Email
* (re)Enable fixed width font
* Look at Email, it is displayed correctly

Then

* Switch back to system-wide fonts, same bug

Changing the system-wide font does not help, either.

I just checked this on my kubuntu installation with kde 4.2 from the experimental ppa. Everything works fine hier with Monospace 10 and DejaVu Sans Mono as system wide font for fixed width.
On a friends machine it worked fine with Monospace after reassigning it explicitly as system wide font. DejaVu worked too.
So please check your systemsettings again, at least the to mentioned fonts should work.
I close this bug for now. Please leave a comment, if you still experience the problem, leave a comment, so I can reopen it.

Hmm, my KDE 4.2 on Debian Sid behaves consistently inasmuch neither way works for me, now..

I will test it with a new user soonish but I don't dare do much to my main KDE session right now as I am running something long-ish & important and need all the RAM I can get (so spawning on tty8 is not an option).

From your comment, I assume it's OK that I re-open this until I can confirm if this is a user setting issue?

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
