I am the original reporter of the downstream bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=425394 So adding myself to this bug.
On a idle kde4.1 system: Top causes for wakeups: 48.7% ( 83.4) knotify4 : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 23.3% ( 40.0) <kernel core> : ath5k_tasklet_rx (ath5k_led_off) 11.7% ( 20.0) <interrupt> : ath 5.6% ( 9.6) ktpacpi_nvramd : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 2.3% ( 4.0) <kernel module> : usb_hcd_poll_rh_status (rh_timer_func) 1.5% ( 2.6) gpg-agent : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 0.9% ( 1.6) dirmngr : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 0.7% ( 1.2) Xorg : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 0.6% ( 1.0) NetworkManager : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 0.6% ( 1.0) dhcdbd : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) kdebase-runtime 4:4.1.1-3~lenny+1 (lenny + kde 4.1 backports) Switching notification from "use KDE sound system" to off didn't help...
After an update to KDE 4.1.2 the problem still exist for me using openSUSE 11.0 also with a new user account. However using openSUSE 11.1 beta2 with KDE 4.1.2 the problem is gone.
