Version: 0.1.1 (using 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.0 (4.1 >= 20080722)), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.26.3-14.fc8 Please add support for UTF-8 in Okteta. I mostly use Okteta on text-files stored in UTF-8, and this would be very useful. Since one character in UTF-8 may be written as several bytes, the cursor for the ‘Value’ column should select cover more than one number when you select a character in the ‘Chars’ column. When you select a number in the ‘Value’ column, the char it is a part of should be selected in the ‘Chars’ column.
A (varying-)multiple-byte encodings view/editor is on the TODO. Scheduled for KDE 4.3.
Coming with 4.2 there is at least a UTF-8 entry in the decoding table tool, if this helps a little for the time being.
Any chance of this now that we are well into 4.5?
Sorry, low chances currently, at least my focus is on other things ATM (and even outside of Okteta the last month, but will change again). Implementing it was more difficult than thought, don't need that feature myself, and then there were more interesting things to do. Still on the list though, especially now that the decoding table tool has generic support for read/write of multi-byte encodings, so indirectly there was work on it, as that stuff can be reused for the main view Current estimation KDE Apps 4.8 perhaps, so end of next year, if it is me who implements it 8)
Hello, I just wanted to ask if there are still any plans for UTF-8 support? I guess UTF-8 is now so widespread, support for UTF-8 would be really nice. Just a slight push :)
wow, that's unbelievable, still no Unicode support...
