Version: (using KDE 4.1.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages When a chat window has been open for a long time and then sending a message causes Kopete to try send the messages for a while. But it always fails. Telling that the connection is lost. It works again if the chat window is closed and opened again from the contacts window. TO REPRODUCE: Start a chat with somebody, and leave it there, say for 1 hour, and try to continue the chat again.
which protocol are you using?
Oh sorry, MSN protocol!
Pretty nasty bug... Using Kopete Version 0.70.0 KDE 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) "release 104" - and bug is still there. 1) I receive message while being away from computer: conversation opens automatically. 2) I notice new incoming message later: After last received message in chat window I see a bunch of empty lines (if conversations is open and is idle for some time empty lines are being added in certain time intervals) 3) I type long answer message and send it 4) Message disappears and the process of sending begins 5) After an hour I come back: message is still in the process of sending and I see a lot more empty lines in the chat window. Result: 1. My message has not been sent 2. I have lost the text of my message (Since it hasn't been sent, I don't see it in chat window, nor in history) 3. I have to reopen conversation and recall, what was in that lost message.
And yes, of course MSN protocol.
Salem: perhaps you could take a look at this?
This is properly fixed in KDE 4.3 (KDE 4.3 beta2 will be the first version with this fix) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 180058 ***
