Version: (using KDE 4.1.0) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages ability to set the exact order (placement) of the icons in the systray The reason: because programs that are shown in systray usually live as long as KDE session, they are very rare "run&quit" programs -- kwallet, klipper, kpowersave, krandrtray, and so on. And the one problem is, the icons are small and it is the only distinction between them. So I would like to set the look of systray in such way that adjacent icons wold differ as much as possible. This way I spent less time ensuring I try to click on the right one (example for me -- kgpg and akregator, they differ in shape I know, but they are both orange and I confuse them too often). And who knows what new apps we will get in near future.

Merging those two wishes means, please add also ability to automatically sort systray. Possible UI: [ ] use fixed placement for this list: <1> here goes the list managed by user <2> ... <3> ... (*) sort by execution time ( ) sort by app name Mixed radio/checkboxes because there could be apps launched which are not on the list.
Hi, I would also like to see this wish/feature. Regards,

I just updated from KDE 4.4.5 to 4.5.1 and the tray icon order was switched. Originally, new icons appeared on the right and I was always very fine with that. With 4.5.1 however, they appear on the left. So please add the suggested changes.

Still not implemented as of Plasma 5.6.0.
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
