Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-09-01 13:20:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

run spellchecker for text not for comments or commands

"duplicate" for html exists here
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82543

but my reports is about latex (or in general, any mixed text/tags filetype). Please do not check comments and tags.

I agree, do not check markup! I perceive such behaviour as a bug.

Kile spell-checker was able to do that in KDE 3.5 but since in KDE 4.x Kile is also using the default KDE spell-checker (as Kate etc.), this ability disappeared. I suppose that's a problem with that default KDE spell-checker.

This works at least in 4.4 and higher, no? At least the syntax file shows that only text and comments is supposed to be spell checked. If not please provide a file that shows the behavior and reopen this bug report.
