Description Gabor Körber 2008-09-01 13:00:02 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Note: I use KDE 3, and inside a KDE 4 application. However, I dont think, thats relevant on the long run. Lets explain:

starting a bug report (I used krdc4, but it seems to afflict every bug report i tried, even running a bug report from inside konqueror4!) with "Launch Bug Report Wizard" reports, that Konqueror is being started (icon jumps, konsole shows nothing new). Nothing happens after that.

In the SAME dialog as "Launch Bug Report Wizard" button is residing, there is a Link to "bugs.kde.org". Clicking this link opens firefox (my default browser) correctly with the link.

So in addition to #159521 which might be the same bug I refer to (and seems to confirm this bug in a way), "Launch Bug Report Wizard" should also use the default browser (like the link does in the same panel) to execute its task - which is a (combined) link anyway.

automatic bug reporting seems to be quite important for development process of kde4+, so this may be important to fix.

Just checked here using:

Qt: 4.5.2 (KDE-Qt git commit 46a247a2c9a8c0c4456a02f6a0922d859d88fe76
        Date: Fri Jun 26 13:45:37 2009 +0200)
KDE: 4.3.60 (KDE 4.3.60 (KDE 4.4 >= 20090706))
kdelibs svn rev. 996016 / kdebase svn rev. 996016
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.30

I changed the browser command to "firefox". Then I opened the Bug Report dialog of KWrite.
- The "bugs.kde.org" link was opened in Firefox
- The bug report assistant page (when clicking "Launch Bug Report Wizard") was also opened in Firefox

Can you confirm this in a more recent KDE version? (may be you already moved from KDE3->KDE4)

Thanks

Thanks

I can confirm it for KDE 4.1. See my report at Bug 202158.

If you don't invoke the bug reporting dialog from a full KDE session, KDE will first try to use xdg-open.

Only if that isn't installed, or if you are in a KDE session, the configured browser from systemsettings is used.

The browser that is invoked via xdg-open might be the KDE browser, regardless of what you have set in systemsettings.

- Have anyone tried if "xdg-open URL" open that site in the KDE Browser or in another one ? Thanks

this bug is still present in KDE 4.6.0 from Kubuntu Maverick packages.

in systemsettings / "Default Applications" i have set "Open http and https URLs" to "in an application based on the contents of the URL". in systemsettings / "File Associations" i have set rekonq to be the first item in the list of associated programs for text/html and application/xhtml+xml.

activating "Launch Bug Report Wizard" opens a page in Konqueror. clicking the b.k.o hyperlink opens a page in rekonq. ``xdg-open http://bugs.kde.org`` opens a page in rekonq.
Comment 8 Ivan D Vasin 2011-01-28 20:35:35 UTC
i'm guessing this is the same bug, but let me know if it's not and i should create a new report.

choosing to open the bug report page when closing DrKonqi also opens Konqueror.

WFM on "KDE Neon 5.10". After I set inside firefox preferences "make me default browser", the "Report bug" menu in KDE applications does finish with "kde-open5 http://bugs.kde.org/wizard.cgi", which does launch inside Firefox (53.0.3).
