Description Anders Hartman 2008-08-31 23:30:28 UTC
Version: 1.3.1 (using 4.0.5 (KDE 4.0.5), 4.0.5-5.fc9 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25.14-108.fc9.x86_64

When trying to connect to a Meade LX200 classic telescope, the application hangs when trying to connect to the telescope port. The search ruler hangs at 100%.
If I hit the close button in the upper right corner, Kstars dies with a sigsegv error. The whole KDE window manager dies sometimes also.

Telescope control has worked fine with previous versions of Kstars (in KDE 3).

If I select Meade LX200 basic the program does connect, but it won't react to any movement commands.

Can you provide a backtrace please? Read http://techbase.kde.org/index.php?title=Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports for more information.
Comment 2 Anders Hartman 2008-10-07 22:24:26 UTC
With the new kernel- and Kstars-updates, KDE no longer dies.
However, I'm unable to connect to a Meade LX200 Classic Telescope.
Neither LX200 Basic or LX200 Classic works.

I have tried to start minicom on the /dev/ttyS0 port. It connects just fine
and I can send query-commands and movement-commands the the telescope and get
expected answers/movements back. If I create a loopback connection with a
null-modem cable between Kstars running on /dev/ttyS0 and a minicom on
/dev/ttyUSB0, I don't get any traffic from Kstars.

I'm running without any type of handshake, neither hw or sw.

Please revert to http://indi.sf.net
Comment 4 Anders Hartman 2008-11-20 10:05:15 UTC
What does revert mean in this case? Some other version of Kstars (older/newer)?
As I understand it, INDI is an integral part of Kstars. Will I need to do
some kind of rebuild of Kstars with a newer version of INDI?

Hello Anders,

What Jasem meant is that as INDI is completely independent of kstars now, you should report the bug on http://indi.sf.net .

Thanks.
