Description Stephen 2008-08-16 22:17:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

I don't know if this exists or not, but I think a plugin for gwenview from kde 4 to import photos from a digital camera would be very useful.

My current situation requires me to use gthumb to import photos and then use gwenview to view them. I can't currently use digikam because it does not provide the option to rename the files when it downloads them. My camera names files with an uppercase file extension, and because of this, the pictures can not be uploaded to the web with firefox because it can not see the files.

I don't like doing this because it would be nice to have one central application to do all this from. And given the nature of the gwenview program, I think it would be very useful to have an import function.

I think an import function would need to have an option to use new file names when they are downloaded off of the camera (much like gthumb).

Probably this is a wontfix: gwenview purpose is not to manage digital camera.

Instead I suggest you to add a wish to digikam for improve the "rename" feature.

I did add a wish and they were rude.

I just think that the ability wouldn't be too far of a stretch for gwenview.

Sorry Stepen but I'm not rude, I'm only quick to answer (usually I don't like to write poems).

I've only wrote that probably what you want is a wonfix. I've wrote it because in the past features like this was not accepted by gwenview devs with that reason.

For this reason I've write "Probably". If you think that gwenview really needs this feature, don't hang and vote for this bug :-)

Bye

An import dialog is something I would like to add. In fact, it's in Gwenview "User Research Profile" document [1] (which I still have to finish)
