Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux An awesome addition to Kate would be the ability to open folders. This should be possible from both external and internal. The handler would conditionally open all the ASCII files in a given folder recursively including subfolders (this might mean that a tree would be needed in the Documents tab/pane. This is extremely useful for programmers eg. ability to open a whole web app with two cilcks. TextMate on Mac OS X has this feature.
I was just about to ask for it, and the reason is the same. Open a whole website with a couple of clicks. But I would ask it to open all text files, or at least the ability to select a pattern/patterns (*.html *.xml *.css *.txt, for example). It is because an HTML file can be written in non-ASCII code (utf8, for example).
