Version: (using KDE 4.1.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages In Kmail, the status drop-down list above the message-list always has a default selection of "Any Status". I would like to be able to configure the default with a setting in the "Configure Kmail" dialog since I find it more useful to view unread messages and would prefer not to have to reselect "unread" from the list every time I change folders.

I can confirm that I would still like this feature in Kmail2 and beyond.
The behaviour of the status button in Akregator is better than in kmail. It doesn't forget the setting every time you change folders. The difference is though that the status in Akregator applies to ALL folders. The best solution is for the status to be per folder but fixed until explicity changed by the user clicking the status button.
We can lock status. In 4.9 there a "lock button" for it. For me it's ok now
