Description gmud 2008-08-04 13:43:46 UTC
Version: 4.1.00 (KDE 4.1.0) (using 4.1.00 (KDE 4.1.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-rt

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to the following URL:
http://www.google.com/base/s2?q=Linux&view=list

Results:
A garbled page is shown " Loading..."

Expected Results:
List of products stored in Google-Base (database for google shopping) related to the termin "Linux", through the keyword isn't important here.

Works when identifying as Safari; with default or Firefox identification it uses the non-standard getBoxObjectFor mozilla extension.
Comment 2 gmud 2008-08-04 15:43:28 UTC
aha, so it's their fault (google folks)
Comment 3 gmud 2008-08-04 15:45:23 UTC
Marking as resolved because it's an improper handling of the useragent identification and use of non standard functions.

Unfortunately we can't do this sort of thing, and I'll likely have to implement it :(. Especially sad given this:

google drive and gmail don't allow this browser on linux. could be a google issue, but it could be a javascript issue also. will try to set identification to different, but even then I cant set identification to winXP or MAC, that I see. I can set identification to a different type of browser, thats about it. can we add settings to allow browser identification to be set to ANYTHING? right now you can change browser identification to say CHROME, but you can NOT set identification to say MAC or winXP (and chrome). Doing this may allow odd servers like google drive to work. thanks!

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
