Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (KDE 2.0.9 >= 20001207)
Severity: wishlist
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 (compiled sources)

Hi!
I often find an email address like
first_name.last_name@domain
When this is added to the abbrowser the Name field stays empty.
IMHO the string in front of the @ could be copied to the name field
- replacing the dot with a blanc
cu
ferdinand
PS
may be this should be reported to abbrowser ?

I often find that I get an email from someone who is already a contact. How about adding an option to add to addressbook to an existing user?

Also, I like the feature which allows me to filter on "is in addressbook". However, this only searches the first email address for a contact. Please fix this to search all email addresses for contacts.

For clarification, what I meant in the first paragraph was to add the new email address for an existing contact.

Is this still valid wish in mail 4?
Comment 4 Björn Ruberg 2009-12-18 11:39:59 UTC
I consider the wish in #1 not really important. I think it is no good idea to parse the e-mail adress and put it as a name - would result in garbish in many times. Kmail does currently use the name of the contact if it is supplied with the e-mail adress like "Björn Ruberg <bjoern@ruberg-wegener.de>". That's fine.

The wish in #2 should be reportet as its own wish if it still exists.
