Description Juraj Vančo 2008-07-29 11:39:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I have 2 keyboard layouts:
sk- slovak (qwerty)
us- american (basic)

After I configure in KDE Control Module the keyboard layouts, everything is okay. After while US keyboard layout space bar is mapped not to standard space (U+0020 UTF16 character), but unbreakable space (U+00A0 UTF16 character).
After applying settings (starting keyboard layout configuration, making "no changes" and pressing Apply in KDE control module), the keyboard starts working normally. After some time of using (typically few hours) this bug also occurs (only for US layout, SK layout is okay also with space).

you may want to check xkb options - there are options which allow to make space as unbreakable one, also make sure you don't press any alt, shift, ctrl buttons when pressing space bar

This one works for me but if you still have this issue please provide more info, e.g. your kxkbrc file and possibly keyboard section of xorg.conf

This bug has had its resolution changed, but accidentally has been left in NEEDSINFO status. I am thus closing this bug and setting the status as RESOLVED to reflect the resolution change.
