Description Jörg Hermsdorf 2008-07-26 23:36:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

This is a whishlist request for implementing a runner that does currency conversion. I just had this idea and think it would be very useful and used often.

Like you can use KRunner for calculations (e.g. =23*7) or unit conversions (e.g. 400km>cm) it would be cool, if you just type in an amount with a currency (e.g. 418€) and KRunner shows you that amount in several other currencies (which you have previously setup). As KRunner always displays the results as icons with text, you could display an icon of the currency/country for every currency the amount was converted to.

i voted for this. it would be very useful. maybe about the currency conversion it could download the daily exchange. or you could integrate directly qalculate ( http://qalculate.sourceforge.net/ ) which do a lot of different conversions.

actually i don't know if it would be better to integrate all this into krunner or in the kalgebra plasmoid...

There is a runner for currency conversion in KDE 4.3, retrieving data from the European Central Bank (ECB), so I'm closing this wish. Thanks.
