Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc-4.1.2 OS: Linux Gentoo will be moving to a new baselayout soon (baselayout-2) which uses a package called openrc for its rc scripts. There have been some syntax changes to the /etc/conf.d/net file that is documented in the openrc package. Most notably, bash style arrays have been removed and replaced with simple double quotes. Documentation can be found here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/openrc-migration.xml http://roy.marples.name/openrc I have only tested knetworkconf-3.5.9 and I do not know if this has already been fixed for knetworkconf in KDE 4.
I have 3 Gentoo systems that don't show any network interfaces in the GUI although the XML dump upno start reveal the interfaces. I've read on multiple sites that people consider knetworkconf to be broken as its showing nothing. I just found this bug report and checked it against my own systems and indeed - all 3 computers already use baselayout-2 and none of them can configure their nics using knetworkconf. Is there any ETA when this will be fixed? (KDE 4.2.3?)
The "knetworkconf" module is unmaintained, and has been replaced with the networkmanagement plasmoid. If this issue still needs to be addressed with a recent version of this plasmoid, please add a comment, or file a new report for product "Network Management". http://websvn.kde.org/?revision=1158822&view=revision
