Description Andreas Kuhl 2008-07-11 17:38:32 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

When opening an audio-cd via the audiocd:/ kioslave in Dolphin, all folders (OGG etc.) are filled but the MP3 folder remains empty. MP3 codecs are installed, other ripping software like Audex works.

if this is kde4 and you are compiling from svn can you try to update and see if the problem is fixed?
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2008-12-05 00:53:35 UTC
This may be related to bug 169243
Comment 3 Dario Andres 2009-01-18 03:01:47 UTC
No news from the bug reporter, closing. Please reopen this bug report if you experience the same bug again with a recent KDE (4.1.4 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2rc1 / 4.2svn / 4.3svn) . Thanks :)

MP3 folder is now filled with MP3s, but copying files via drag and drop fails:

Reusing the same bug number for something totally different is not a good idea, please next time open a new one, i'm changing the topic to reflect the current problem.

It works for me btw, reading at the output of the file i'd say what lame says and recompile lame without libsndfile support to see if that fixes your issue.
Comment 6 P A S 2009-03-22 12:40:03 UTC
I have the same problem on Suse 11.1 KDE 4.2.1.
Comment 7 Andreas Kuhl 2010-11-26 10:35:18 UTC
Problem still persists with openSUSE 11.3 and KDE SC 4.6 Beta 1.
Comment 8 Stephen Dunn 2011-04-28 06:40:35 UTC
opensuse forum have a thread here where it is solved by compiling from source without libsndfile
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/multimedia/454946-cant-rip-mp3-kio-slave-k3b-libsndfile-error.html

and here https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=631269
So is it a packaging problem?
