Description Rolf Eike Beer 2008-07-11 08:56:59 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: MS Windows

(Probably not limited to dolphin, but I don't know of a better place to report it.)

There is a system wide trashcan (aka \RECYCLER) on MS Windows systems. It is absolutely confusing from a users point of view if KDE applications use their own trash in user profile instead of the system wide one. trash:/ should just use \RECYCLER on Windows.

I don't know about OSX, but if there is a trashcan too this should also be used instead of the private one.

I'm working on this for windows (kio_trash) - clearing the trash, putting into trash and restoring already works bt there're problems monitoring changes in the recycle bin

Any progress on this, Christian?

The kio_trash already has been committed "years" ago ;-) recent brokenness has been fixed too.
The kio_trash really uses the system recycle bin.
