Version: (using KDE 4.0.83) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages To reproduce: 1) Launch Kate 2) Click on Filesystem Browser 3) Star -> Edit Bookmarks 4) Click on the Name text field 5) Try to type 6) On my machine one cannot type into any of the text fields. The first time I tried to type into one of the text fields, I got this message in a popup box: """KLauncher could not be reached via D-Bus. Error when calling start_service_by_desktop_path: empty""" The message is not reproducible (it only happened the first time) so it may not be related. The rest of the bug (the inability to type in the text fields) is reproducible every time.
"KLauncher could not be reached via D-Bus." is fixed, see bug #157853.
Don't you have to press "New Bookmark" and select the new bookmark before you try to edit the name, or did you forget to write down that step?
@A. Spehr: I see that the message was unrelated, as the issue persists even now that bug 157853 has been fixed.
@Ivo Anjo: I did not write down that step, as I did not even think about it. I was trying to edit the field without having created a new bookmark. I therefore mark this bug as invalid, but I filed bug 172458 which asks to rectify the situation. Thanks.
